Telos Foundation Partners with Ponos Technology for Advanced Ethereum Layer 2 Network
The Telos Foundation has announced a strategic collaboration with Ponos Technology, a prominent firm specializing in Zero Knowledge Proof (ZKP) research and development. This partnership aims to create a fully optimized, hardware-accelerated Ethereum Layer 2 network. At the core of this initiative is SNARKtor, a decentralized recursive proof aggregator developed by Telos. By adopting a hardware-software co-design strategy, the collaboration seeks to enhance scalability, improve data security, and facilitate trustless interoperability for Ethereum users around the world.
Innovative Solutions through Hardware-Software Integration
Ponos Technology is recognized for delivering optimized solutions for ZK proving, primarily through the utilization of FPGA acceleration. This approach aims to maximize business efficiency by matching co-designed hardware and software modules, resulting in cost-effective computational processes. The team at Ponos boasts a diverse array of seasoned scientists and industry experts who possess extensive knowledge regarding all facets of ZKPs.
Promising Future for Zero Knowledge Technology
“The adoption of Zero Knowledge technology is poised to become more prevalent, unlocking opportunities for enhanced efficiency and security across various sectors,” stated Slobodan Lukovic, CEO and co-founder of Ponos Technology. He noted that, similar to artificial intelligence, continuous improvements in algorithms combined with advancements in hardware infrastructure will lead to the mainstream adoption of ZKPs in the near future.
Collaboration with Key Industry Players
During the development phase, Telos will also join forces with several notable partners, including Digital M.O.B., recognized as one of the top Ethereum developer teams with contributions to projects like MetaMask, MakerDAO, and Gnosis. Another partner, ATKA, is a Paris-based Web3 incubator that has facilitated the growth of high-profile projects like Morpho and Mangrove, with which Telos has formed a strategic alliance. Additionally, the award-winning development team Cometh, led by Jerome de Tychey, President of ETH France, has joined Telos as a technical advisor in the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
Leadership and Vision for zkEVM Development
John Lilic, Executive Director of Telos, brings extensive experience from his previous roles at Consensys and Polygon, and he also maintains his position as a Top 50 Web3 angel investor. Lilic will oversee and facilitate the development efforts, collaborating closely with Alberto Garoffolo, Head of ZK technology at Telos and co-author of the SNARKtor whitepaper, as well as Jesse Schulman, CTO and Head of Engineering.
Strategic Approach to Achieve zkEVM Performance
Lilic emphasized the necessity for Ethereum to adopt a hardware-software co-design model to achieve optimal zkEVM performance on a large scale. “This is the strategy we are implementing with Ponos Technology and our expanding network of partners as we develop a hardware-accelerated zkEVM Layer 2 solution. We believe this approach, combined with our innovative work on recursive proofs via SNARKtor, will provide valuable services to the Ethereum ecosystem and beyond,” he remarked.
Telos Foundation’s Commitment to Blockchain Development
Founded in 2018 through a fair network launch without an ICO or token sale, the Telos Foundation has played a crucial role in developing two primary networks: Telos EVM and Telos Zero. The foundation is now set to focus on creating a high-performance Layer 2 zkEVM solution that is both efficient and succinctly provable. More information about the Telos Layer 2 will be revealed leading up to EthCC in July, where Telos will be a key sponsor. The team plans to unveil its first live demonstration of SNARKtor during the EthCC event, marking an important milestone before the official launch of the Telos L2.
About Telos
Telos is a decentralized blockchain ecosystem that encompasses Telos EVM, which has been recognized as the fastest Ethereum Virtual Machine globally, along with its high-speed consensus layer, Telos Zero. The project is dedicated to enhancing its capabilities through innovative Zero Knowledge technology by developing a hardware-accelerated Ethereum Layer 2 network powered by SNARKtor, which aims to improve privacy and scalability for a wide range of global applications. The Telos Foundation, which oversees the project, operates as an ownerless entity committed to fostering the growth of the Telos blockchain network and its community.
